Help seniors in Kelowna get out and about!

Description of project

Many seniors in Kelowna need transportation to medical appointments, or social programs. Due to various health conditions, or poverty, Seniors in our community often find themselves unable to get to appointments, especially those seniors who need accompaniment to walk to specific hospital departments for monitoring or testing. Others want to go to specific stores, and cannot use public transportation. Isolation is something that affects many older adults, and keeps them from attending social occasions, getting to hair appointments, visiting friends, or even visiting with a spouse in long-term care. Research now says that isolation is as damaging to both physical and mental health as smoking is. Our Better Bucks Transportation Program provides free or subsidized transportation to seniors in Kelowna, based on income.
The donations to the project will mean many more seniors can be helped through this program.
