A program of Home Instead Senior Care Foundation of Canada

For Registered Charities

Would you like to raise more money for your registered charity?
Does your organization serve those age 65 and older?
Would you like to grow your social media audience?
Would you like to increase awareness of your mission?

If you answered "yes" to these questions, then GIVE65 should be included in your organization's annual development plan. GIVE65 is the first crowd-fundraising platform that is exclusively devoted to helping registered charities raise money online for programs and services that create hope for seniors.

A CATALYST FOR SOCIAL CHANGE
As a registered charity, you know how difficult it is to raise funds for programs and services that help seniors in need.  At GIVE65, we believe that we can inspire greater charitable giving in support of seniors when we all come together united around this common purpose. By working together, we can increase social awareness and the capacity of charitable organizations to care for the growing senior population.

How to Participate

There are two ways your organization can participate on the GIVE65 platform.

  1. Participate in the annual GIVE65 Event
Apply to participate in Home Instead Senior Care Foundation of Canada's annual 65-hour GIVE65 Event. If selected to participate, your organization will harness the power of generosity in your local community while competing for matching grants and bonus grants. The application to participate in the 2019 GIVE65 Event is available by clicking the pink "apply now" button below. Please note: while the GIVE65 application is open year-round, we only review applications for the GIVE65 Event February 1 - May 15.

GIVE65 Event Rules & Guidelines Overview

A complete list of Rules and Guidelines can be reviewed at Terms of Use.

  • Registered charities seeking to participate in the 2019 GIVE65 Event must complete and submit the online application. Applications will be reviewed February 1 - April 30.
  • At any given time while participating on the GIVE65 site, only one organization profile is available per charity registration number.
  • There is an administrative fee of 8 per cent plus a 2.2 per cent (currently) credit card processing fees deducted from each donation.
  • Participating registered charities can expect to receive approximately 90 per cent of the total donations contributed to them.
  • Matching grants and bonus grants may also be available to eligible participating charities.
  • The Foundation will distribute any funds raised and any matching grants and any bonus grants awarded to participating charities on either of the following dates, as applicable: August 31, for such funds raised and such matching grants and bonus grants awarded during the immediately preceding time frame of January 1 through July 31, or January 31, for such funds raised and such matching grants and bonus grants awarded during the immediately preceding time frame of August 1 through December 31.

Matching Grants

  • All participating organizations are eligible for matching grants during the GIVE65 Event and GIVE65 #GivingTuesday celebration.
  • Every participating registered charity is eligible for up to $5,000 in matching grants. This is a dollar-for-dollar match - as long as matching funds are available - meaning nonprofits do not need to reach $5,000 and/or their fundraising goal to receive matching funds. Once all matching funds have been awarded, gifts will no longer be matched.

Bonus Grants

  • Bonus grants are awarded at 100 per cent of their value.
  • The total amount of each bonus grant is determined solely by Home Instead Senior Care Foundation of Canada's Board of Directors and contingent upon the amount of funds available for distribution.
  • All organisations invited to participate in the GIVE65 Event are eligible to be considered for any available bonus grants.
  • In connection with the annual GIVE65 Event scheduled for 2019, Home Instead Senior Care Foundation of Canada intends to award bonus grants to participating registered charities. Registered charities are eligible to receive one bonus grant and are not eligible to receive a bonus grant in both prize categories.
  • Each of the two categories is further divided into thirds in an effort to recognize participating charities at various levels of operating budget. The categories are:

Category #1: Most Dollars Raised
Operating Budget Less than $500,000 CAD
Operating Budget Between $500,000 and $1 million CAD
Operating Budget Over $1 million CAD

Category #2: Most Unique Donors*
Operating Budget Less than $500,000 CAD
Operating Budget Between $500,000 and $1 million CAD
Operating Budget Over $1 million CAD

* Example: If one donor gives five different online donations to the same organisation, the donor will only be counted as one donor for purposes of this category.

Volunteer Portal

The GIVE65 volunteer portal is live! We understand the value volunteers bring to charitable organizations, so that's why all participating GIVE65 organizations have the option to have a volunteer button on their GIVE65 online profiles. This allows potential volunteers the ability to submit their contact information online. Every time a volunteer submits their contact information, the administrator(s) of your GIVE65 online profile, will receive an email. You can also access all volunteer information through the admin portal. To launch your own volunteer portal, you must opt in to this feature while building your GIVE65 overview page.
